The efficacy of combination therapy with 5-flucytosine and an IgGl monocional antibody to Cryptococcus neoformans capsular glucuronoxylomannan was studied in vitro with J774.16 murine macrophage-like cells and in vivo in murine cryptococcal infection. The combination of 5-flucytosine and IgGl was more effective in reducing the numbers of C. neoformans colony-forming units in vitro and in vivo than either agent alone.
