Effects of salicylate and related compounds on fusidic acid MICs in Staphylococcus aureus

Christopher T. D. Price, Frances G. O'Brien, Bradley P. Shelton, John R. Warmington, Warren B. Grubb and John E. Gustafson

The legend to Figure 1(a) was incorrect, it should have read:

Figure 1. (a) SmaI-restricted chromosomal banding patterns of S. aureus isolates used in this study. Lanes: 1, BB255; 2, BB270; 3, WBG8375; 4, WBG9007; 5, WBG9229; 6, WBG8397; 7, WBG8287; 8, WBG8289; 9, WBG8324; 10, WBG1576; 11, BE8; 12, S. aureus strain not used in this study. NCTC8325 is not shown.

Figures 2 and 3 lacked explanation of the symbols used. The corrected Figure legends are reproduced below:

Figure 2. Population analysis of fusidic acid-resistant strains WBG8287 (circles) and WBG1576 (squares) in the presence of fusidic acid with (filled symbols) or without (open symbols) 2 mM salicylate.

Figure 3. Population analysis of fusidic acid-susceptible strains BB255 (circles) and WBG9007 (squares) in the presence of fusidic acid with (filled symbols) or without (open symbols) 2 mM salicylate.
