In-vitro ranking of the efficacy of antimicrobial agents

Y Tajima
Clinical Laboratory, Saga Medical School Hospital, Nabeshima, Japan.

A new 'drug efficacy score' was devised to compare the in-vitro efficacy of various drugs. The score is easily calculated from an MIC correlogram; strains positioned above the diagonal of the correlogram are positively scored and those positioned below are given negative scores. Each score is multiplied by the number of corresponding strains, and all such products are summed.
