Erratum

Abstract

The following errors have been noted: (i) p. 593 para 5, 1 18–19: ‘their four strains probably’ should be replaced by ‘probably’; (ii) p. 594: the final sentence of text should read Occasionally the hyperproduction of chromosomal ß-lactamase and alterations in the permeability of the outer membrane has been involved as a cause of resistance (Houvinen et al., 1988); 0·4%1·2% respectively, of our strains showed resistance attributable to these mechanisms.’
