After repeated administration of erythromycin (ethylsuccinate 1 g twice daily) and roxithromycin (150 mg twice daily) lung tissue concentrations are higher for roxithromycin (3·7±0·5 mg/kg after 12 h) (Tremblay et al., 1986c) than for erythromycin (0·96±0·22 mg/kg after 4 h) (Wildfeuer & Lemme, 1985), although the lung/plasma concenration ratio is higher for erythromycin than for roxithromycin.
