Clindamycin—a retrospective study of its side-effects

V. Dallos

Accident and Emergency Department Whipps Cross Hospital, Leytonstone, London E11 1NR, England

accepted 16 August 1975

Twenty-four thousand one hundred and seventy casualty record cards for 1973 were examined, and 654 patients were found to have been treated with clindamycin. Detailed examination of these cards revealed 5 patients with side-effects (0 8%), 2 of which were transient diarrhoea (03%). These figures support the view that clinda mycin is a safe antibiotic when given to essentially healthy ambulant patients, in the recommended dosage, for 5 to 7 days.
